The delightful Wolds market town of Alford offers historical interest, a range of local facilities and a peaceful setting in which to live.

Set back from the A16, the main Lincolnshire coastal route, Alford is located between the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the coastal plains leading down to Sutton on Sea, Mabelthorpe and Skegness, all within 10 miles.

Remnants of the town’s important history still exist within and around the town with no better example than the 17th century Alford Manor House and Hackett Barn Museum, a fine example of a composite Georgian manor house. The Alford Windmill is also a fine Grade 1 listed five-sailed windmill which has been restored to full working order.

The town offers a good selection of restaurants, pubs and local shopping and is famed for its weekly market and annual craft market.

Apart from small local employers, the town is strongly involved in both local agriculture and tourism with the world-famous Lincoln Poacher cheese being produced nearby.

The town is also well-served with churches, banks, dentists, a library and a doctor’s surgery.

Local education is of the highest standard at the Alford Primary School and for secondary education, at either Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School (Ofsted rated Outstanding 2007) or John Spendluffe Technical College (Ofsted rated Outstanding 2010).

For your leisure, the area caters for a wide range of interests from hill and coast walking, bird-watching, gliding, water sports, local football and rugby.
